Benefits of Clear Braces

We all want to look our best at all times. Teens and adults alike can opt for clear braces, which are made from ceramic and are translucent. A great benefit to choosing them is that your transitional smile won’t have a metallic look. If you’re conscious of having metal brackets, clear ceramic braces can be a great choice for you! Changing the way your teeth are structured takes time, and now there are ways to keep you looking your best while you got through this process.

Differences Between Traditional and Clear Braces?

Clear Braces works in the same amount of time as traditional braces, so fret not! While clear aligners can take up to 12 months longer to straighten mild-to-moderate misaligned teeth than clear braces do, the effectiveness compared to traditional metal braces is the same! The wire and bracket system move your teeth into the right position over time. The end result is the same in comparison to traditional metal braces.

What Materials Are Used?

Clear braces are made from ceramic, which makes them less durable than traditional metal braces. Ceramic brackets used braces are much more fragile and are more than twice as likely to break off or fracture than metal brackets. This can cause the straightening process to take longer due to the delays that can follow a braces repair. They also cost more than traditional braces because they cost more to make.

Foods to Avoid With Braces

Many times, a patient will want to know if the clear material in their braces can become stained. The answer is no, the braces themselves do not become stained. However, the adhesive or bands can become stained, which can lead to a discolored or darker look to your teeth. Take extra care when eating dark or deeply colored food or drink. Be sure to brush, floss, and rinse after eating and drinking, even after small snacks. Foods and drinks with highly intensive almost-instant staining power include:

  • balsamic vinegar,
  • berries and pomegranates,
  • beets,
  • colored candies,
  • coffee,
  • dark sodas,
  • popsicles
  • red wine,
  • slushies,
  • soy sauce,
  • teas,
  • tomatoes and tomato products,
  • turmeric and curries, and
  • yellow mustard.
