It is important to take special care of your teeth while wearing metal braces. You will want to:
· Brush, floss, and rinse with certain toothpastes, floss or mouthwash. We will help explain which types will help benefit your routine to help protect your metal braces.
· Avoid certain foods that can break your brackets or wires such as nuts, sticky candies, popcorn, raw veggies, bagel, chips, hard fruits, or tough meats.
Traditional braces are typically worn for one to three years, with the average being 22 months. The time frame varies from patient to patient, but depends on how severe your problem is, how much room is inside your mouth, the health of your teeth, and how closely you follow your treatment plan.
